Our family business is helping your family.
Family lore has it that on New Year’s Eve in 1977 Chris Mims, the founder of this practice, announced that he had finally found a boss he could work for: himself.
From that day forward, Chris set out to build a legal practice grounded in the values that mattered most to him—compassion, integrity, and humor. Practicing law was one of the greatest honors of his life, and he never forgot what a privilege it was to serve as an attorney and to help families through some of life’s most important decisions.
Sadly, Chris passed away in 2015 after a long battle with cancer. We knew, however, that the best way to honor his life and legacy was to continue the practice and the work he loved so much. That same year, Chris’s sister, Lisabeth Ann Mims, took over the practice and has carried it forward ever since.
Now, as Lisabeth prepares to retire, the next chapter of the Mims family legacy begins.
The practice is passing to Deborah (Mims) Young, Chris’s oldest child. After her father’s passing, Deborah went to law school, inspired by the example he set and the meaningful work he devoted his life to. Today, she is honored to carry on his practice and serve families with the same values that guided her father.
For decades, the Mims family has helped families throughout the DFW Metroplex navigate some of life’s most difficult and complicated decisions. Whether planning for the future, settling the affairs of a loved one, or helping protect a family member who needs additional care and support, our practice is focused on providing thoughtful legal guidance when it matters most.
We continue to serve clients in the areas of estate planning, probate, and guardianship, helping families make informed decisions and find a path forward during times of transition.
Three generations of the Mims family have now been part of this journey. While the practice continues to evolve, the principles Chris established in 1977 remain at its heart.
The name is changing, but the mission continues—a commitment to serving families with compassion, integrity, and a little humor along the way.
